Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Food Scientist in Martinsville, VA to join a fast-growing food manufacturing company focused on private label, co-manufacturing, and foodservice solutions.

The role will develop and refine new product formulations, lead plant trials, coordinate with Operations, QA, Procurement, and Supply Chain, and manage documentation and change controls while prioritizing safety and quality. Competitive base salary with bonus and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Culinary Science, or related field.
• 5+ years of food product development or food science experience.
• Strong knowledge of ingredient interactions, formulations, and commercialization processes.
• Experience supporting plant trials and scaling products from bench to production.
• HACCP training preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine new food product formulations based on customer specifications and manufacturing capabilities.
• Create bench samples and support iterative product development activities.
• Plan, coordinate, and lead plant trials and first production runs.
• Partner directly with customers regarding product expectations, feedback, and commercialization timelines.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, QA, Procurement, and Supply Chain teams.
• Manage specification documentation and formulation updates.
• Support ingredient change controls and raw material approvals.
• Coordinate shipment of samples, finished goods, and raw materials as needed.
• Provide technical expertise related to food science, ingredients, and manufacturing processes.
• Support multiple manufacturing facilities on product development initiatives.
