Job summary

ColdSnap in Billerica, MA is seeking a Food Science Technologist to support the VP of Food Science Innovation and the Senior Food Science Manager in all aspects of product development, inventory management, document control, and food safety. This role offers exposure to formulation, testing, shelf-life, and ingredient sourcing while working onsite at the Billerica facility.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field.
Strong understanding of food chemistry, processing, and microbiology.
Knowledge of food safety regulations and quality control standards.
Understanding of sensory evaluation techniques for shelf life.
Proficiency in laboratory techniques and equipment operation.
Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Detail‑oriented and able to work independently.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Prior internship or work experience in a food science role is a plus.
Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite.
Motivated, hard‑working, eager to excel, able to take direction and work on a team.

Responsibilities

Product Development: Collaborate on formulation and testing for new recipes and optimization of current recipes for ice creams, smoothies, coffee drinks, cocktails, and more.
Production: Support production staff during large batch production runs and prepare small batches for demos and testing.
Test Kitchen Management: Maintain an organized, clean, and sanitary kitchen environment with proper labeling.
Quality Control: Abide by food safety and QA protocols and apply them in test kitchen and batch room.
Testing & Data Collection: Prepare test proposals, run tests, collect data, and assist decision making from results.
Document Control: Create, update, and manage formulations, specifications, and documentation.
Nutrition Labeling: Assist with creating and reviewing nutrition panels and ingredient statements.
Sensory Evaluation: Manage shelf-life testing system; evaluate color, mouthfeel, and flavor stability.
Inventory Management: Source ingredients and communicate with vendors for specs and documentation.
Off-Site Production Coordination: Research and arrange meetings with co‑manufacturers; travel as needed.
