Position Overview

This role is within Cargill’s food and bioindustrial business, supporting manufacturers, retailers, and foodservice companies by delivering quality products and services, leveraging our technical expertise and market insights.

Job Purpose and Impact

The Food Safety Quality Technician – Rotating Shift will perform moderately complex analytical and laboratory testing to support food safety, quality, and operational teams. Responsibilities include routine product testing, monitoring instrumentation performance, conducting tests, documenting results, and communicating findings.

Key Responsibilities

1. Conduct routine qualitative and quantitative inspections and laboratory tests on raw materials, in-process, and final products, supporting complex trials under supervision.
2. Ensure compliance with all testing programs, regulations, and food safety procedures.
3. Document test results accurately in databases and communicate findings to internal stakeholders.
4. Perform calibration checks, preventive maintenance, and simple repairs on analytical instruments.
5. Contribute to developing a food safety, quality, and regulatory culture through cross-functional collaboration.
6. Handle clerical, technical, or customer support issues under supervision, escalating complex issues as needed.
7. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least two years of related work experience.
• Willingness to work 12-hour rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Experience with laboratory instruments and practices.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of food safety practices and standards.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
• Ability to interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
