Job summary

Bud Antle, LLC is seeking a Food Safety Quality Assurance Technician in a non-exempt, full-time role. The position supports FSMA and the Food Safety Plan within the FSQA department at the Springfield, Ohio location, reporting to the FSQA Supervisor.

Primary duties include environmental monitoring sampling, microbiological testing communication, and ensuring GMP compliance. Candidates should have a HS diploma or GED and be able to work varied shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed.

Qualifications

  • HS Diploma or GED required.
  • Previous experience in a food processing facility is desired but not required.
  • Working knowledge of Food Technology, GMPs, and Federal/State food regulations.
  • Strong computer skills, data collection, and reporting.
  • Good verbal communication skills.
  • Hands-on ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented food processing environment.
  • Must be able to work independently and with limited supervision.
  • Must be able to maintain regular and acceptable attendance and follow directions.
  • Must be flexible with the ability to work any shift as workload demands.
  • Must have the ability to make decisions and accept constructive criticism.

Responsibilities

  • Execute Environmental Monitoring Program (EMP) Sampling, including documentation, sampling, and software maintenance.
  • Communicate microbiological testing of in-process and final product materials.
  • Assist in commissioning of equipment.
  • Assist in execution of challenge and validation studies with external partners.
  • Perform facility and GMP inspections to ensure sanitary practices.
  • Promote safe working practices.
  • Stay informed on current science, regulatory principles, and food-safety issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager.
  • Adhere to SQF policies, practices, and SOPs and ensure integrity of the food safety system during organizational changes.
  • Support special projects and other duties as assigned.

Pay Range: $19.87 to $22.62 Hourly

FSQA Tech: $19.87 per hour

FSQA Tech-Swab: $22.62 per hour

What You'll Do

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The role, reporting to Food Safety Analyst in the Value-Added Plants, works on microbiological and food safety related issues and partners with Production, Sanitation, and others in management. The position supports FSMA and the Food Safety Plan.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for execution of the Environmental Monitoring Program (EMP) Sampling including but not limited to documentation, sampling, and maintenance of associated software.
  • Responsible for communication of microbiological testing of in-process and final product materials.
  • Participates in activities related to commissioning of equipment.
  • Assists in execution of challenge studies and validation studies, including collaboration with external business partners.
  • Performs facility and GMP inspections to ensure best practices and sanitary principles are followed.
  • Encourages safe working practices.
  • Remains abreast of current science, regulatory principles, and emerging issues related to food safety.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by manager.
  • Employee must adhere to all policies, practices, and SOPs related to producing Safe Quality Food (SQF)
  • Ensure the integrity and continued operation of the food safety system in the event of organizational or personnel changes within the company or associated facilities.
  • Support special projects and other duties as assigned

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND LICENSES/CERTIFICATION
  • HS Diploma or GED required.

  • Manufacturing Plant Floor.
  • Work is performed in a cool environment with an average temperature of 34 degrees F. Concentrated chlorine and concealed ammonia is present. Work surfaces and floors are wet. Employees are required to wear approved shoes and protective equipment.
