Qualifications

This position establishes and maintains Food Safety and Quality Control programs, processes, and procedures to ensure products manufactured for B&G Foods meet food safety regulatory requirements and B&G specifications. Supervises quality leads and technicians performing product quality checks. Provides support to operations in addressing food safety and quality issues as necessary. Serves as backup to Sr. FSQA Manager.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provides direction, guidance, and support for daily quality control leads & technicians. Ensures accurate, reliable, and timely analyses are performed, documented, and communicated to internal and external customers. Ensures daily product compliance with specifications and customer expectations. Documents and reports all deviations, collaborating on corrective actions.
  2. Monitors plant operations to ensure compliance with quality and food safety programs through GMPs, sanitation audits, HACCP, and product quality checks, adhering to organization policies & applicable SQF Code. Participates in error prevention and correction.
  3. Communicates nonconforming results to relevant departments and makes decisions to accept/reject products.
  4. Implements and maintains proficiency testing programs in microbiological and chemical laboratories.
  5. Uses SPC and other statistical tools to analyze QA, Food Safety, and Microbiological data, providing reports and management recommendations on unacceptable results.
  6. Reports all food safety and quality issues, assisting with corrective actions.
  7. Participates in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance KPI performance.
  8. Ensures the production of safe, wholesome products.
  9. Administers quality systems programs as assigned and performs other duties as needed.
  10. Assumes duties of FSQ Lead/technicians and other tasks in their absence as directed by the Sr. FSQA Manager.

Experience, Skills, Education:

  1. Associate's degree required; Bachelor's preferred in Food Technology, Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, or related field.
  2. 3-5 years of Quality Management experience in the food industry required.
  3. HACCP, SQF, PCQI certifications preferred.
  4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.
  5. Strong planning, organizing, leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  6. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  7. Ability to handle multiple priorities, extended schedules, and time constraints.
  8. Ability to work in a food manufacturing environment adhering to GMPs.
  9. Effective time-management skills.
