Job summary

Qualifications

• Two years as a Food Inspector 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent) or
• Four years of experience in inspecting food establishments or processing facilities with a related bachelor's degree
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent required.
• You must meet PA residency requirements.
• Veterans' preferences information available via PA websites.

Responsibilities

• Create policies, procedures, and training materials for manufactured food programs.
• Support uniform inspection practices and assist with enforcement actions when needed.
• Work with FDA staff to meet contract requirements, complete reports, and stay compliant with national standards.
• Obtain and maintain credentials to perform specialized inspections.
• Develop and deliver training for inspectors, industry partners, and communities.
• Conduct audits and analyze program performance to ensure effectiveness and alignment with standards.

Bachelor's degree in food science/food technology or related field
