Job summary

FMI – The Food Industry Association is hiring a Chemical & Food Safety Programs Director in a hybrid role based in Arlington, VA. You will lead food safety programs for product suppliers, serve as the technical expert on chemical contaminants, and coordinate with regulators and stakeholders to advance public health outcomes.

The position requires a strong background in food safety, regulatory knowledge, and excellent communication skills to guide industry-wide initiatives and member services.

Qualifications

• College degree in food safety, food science, chemistry, or toxicology.
• 7–10 years professional experience with at least 7 years in food safety.
• Knowledge of HACCP and Preventive Control programs.
• Knowledge of federal and state food regulations.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver food safety programs for product supplier members.
• Lead and manage the Product Supplier Scientific Affairs Committee.
• Serve as FMI’s technical expert on chemical contaminants in food.
• Support chemical safety initiatives through research and engagement with stakeholders.
• Develop and implement programs, resources, and communications related to chemical safety and regulatory compliance.
