Job description

The Role: The Food Runner is responsible for working with Stand Workers and kitchen staff in concession stands to deliver food and beverage orders from stand to guest at all events.

Responsibilities

• Shows initiative and approaches all tasks with a “can-do” attitude.
• Ability to work with a sense of urgency in a fast-paced environment.
• Able to follow job procedures and supervisor’s instructions.
• Cleans and maintains concession areas.
• Helps set up and break down stand at beginning and end of night.
• Maintains a professional attitude and appearance.
• Keeps the BOH workspace clean and in order.
• Sets up BOH areas each day to the venue.
• Closes FOH/BOH areas each day to the venue.
• Runs food to the correct tables and boxed seat locations.
• Ensures all food and beverage meet quality standards.
• Possesses knowledge of the food and drink menu and provides detailed descriptions of delivered food products.
• Ensures stock rotation of perishables – sauces/condiments in BOH areas.
• Responsible for organization of stock around the expediter in BOH areas.
• Provides outstanding customer service to enhance guests’ experience.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Management.
• Shows flexibility by rotating to other service locations when necessary.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be able to read, speak and write English in order to communicate with staff and guests.
• Ability to work all venue events and maintain a flexible schedule to meet service demand levels, including extended hours, days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to work in an open aired environment during all climate conditions.
• Must be punctual and dependable.
• Must maintain personal hygiene and a well-groomed appearance in accordance with company and venue standards.
• Must have sufficient mobility to perform assigned production tasks including constant standing, reaching, bending, stooping, wiping, pushing, and pulling for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift and transport items weighing 10-30 pounds, occasionally 50 pounds.
• Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparations, service standards, guest relations and etiquette preferred.
• Ability to effectively listen and take direction from management.
• Ability to work under pressure and multitask in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting.
• Must meet state and local health requirements for food handlers and alcoholic beverage services (SERVSafe and City of Philadelphia Food Safety Personnel Certificate a plus).
• Practice safe work habits, follow all safety policies and procedures and regulations, complete company-wide safety training and any additional job‑specific safety training.
