Responsibilities

Assist with achieving departmental guest satisfaction targets and food and beverage revenues by following established service strategies and optimizing up-sell opportunities.
Performs other related duties as assigned or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Must be familiar with the Safety and Environmental Protection Policy and the SEMS, and carry out the policies and procedures appropriate for his/her position.
Ensure assigned station is properly setup with the required amounts of china, glassware, silverware and mis-en-place prior to the start of service.
Comply with sequence of service for food and beverage, and follow the lead/instructions of the Waiters to ensure timeliness of service to guests.
Resolve any service and/or product deficiencies that may occur to ensure guest satisfaction in the assigned station.
Ensure that assigned station is properly cleaned and set-up at the end of the meal period and that all assigned side-work is complete.
Perform other jobs as assigned, including but not limited to manning non-cooking buffet action stations (e.g., carving station, dessert station).
Deliver food and beverages to guest cabins as per company procedures and assist with private parties and functions.

Qualifications

Minimum of two years experience as a front waiter with fine dining and banquet service experience in hotels/resorts, or previous shipboard experience in a similar position.
Minimum of two years experience selling and serving wine and other beverage products.
Intermediate to advanced level English verbal and written skills, including proper grammar.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent.
Courses and/or training in safety, environmental, public health and sanitation regulations and procedures are required.

Physical Requirements

The U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) requires all crew members employed with NCL America aboard the Pride of America to hold a Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC). The following physical abilities are required to perform shipboard duties per USCG guidelines. A BMI of 40.0 or higher or a medical practitioner’s assessment may require a practical demonstration of certain functions.

Balance while walking and standing.
Climb up and down vertical ladders and stairways.
Step over door sills up to 24 inches in height.
Move through restricted openings up to 24 inches by 24 inches.
Open/close watertight doors weighing up to 55 pounds; maneuver handles with hands/arms.
Lifting up to 40 pounds; carrying, pushing or pulling the same weight.
Use common tools (wrenches, hammers, screwdrivers, pliers).
Crouch, kneel and crawl; distinguish textures and temperatures by feel.
Stand for up to four hours intermittently with minimal rest.
React to visual and audible alarms and instructions.
Conduct tasks related to firefighting equipment and safety gear.
Put on a Personal Flotation Device (PFD) without assistance.
No physical limitations impacting duties.
