Job summary

Tanque Verde Ranch is seeking a courteous Food Runner for a part-time role in Tucson, AZ. You will deliver meals from the kitchen to guests with accuracy and a warm attitude, coordinating closely with servers, cooks, and the Food & Beverage team to ensure timely and presentable service.

The position requires attentiveness and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while upholding Ranch standards and guest satisfaction.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
• Restaurant, hospitality or customer service experience preferred but not required.
• Previous Food Runner/Busser experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Deliver food promptly, accurately, and professionally.
• Verify dishes against table and seat numbers before leaving the kitchen.
• Communicate with servers, cooks, and other Food & Beverage staff regarding guest needs.
• Maintain familiarization with menu items, ingredients, and garnishes to describe dishes.

Position Overview

The Food Runner plays an important role in creating an exceptional dining experience by ensuring food is delivered from the kitchen to guests accurately, efficiently, and with a warm and welcoming attitude. This position works closely with Servers, Cooks, and other Food & Beverage team members to maintain smooth service and ensure dishes are delivered promptly and presented according to Tanque Verde Ranch standards.

The Food Runner should be attentive, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment while demonstrating genuine hospitality and a willingness to assist wherever needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Deliver food from the kitchen to guests promptly, accurately, and professionally.
• Verify dishes against table and seat numbers before leaving the kitchen to ensure accurate delivery.
• Communicate effectively with Servers, Cooks, and other Food & Beverage associates regarding guest needs, special requests, dietary restrictions, and service concerns.
• Become familiar with menu items, ingredients, accompaniments, and basic preparation methods to accurately identify and describe dishes when delivering them.
• Ensure food is properly presented and includes appropriate garnishes, condiments, and accompaniments prior to delivery.
• Assist Servers with clearing, resetting, and maintaining tables as needed.
• Help maintain cleanliness and organization of food service areas, server stations, and kitchen pass/expo areas.
• Monitor dining areas and proactively assist guests and fellow associates when opportunities arise.
• Follow established food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards at all times.
• Handle dishes, trays, glassware, and service equipment safely and appropriately.
• Assist with setup and breakdown of dining areas and special events as assigned.
• Maintain professional appearance and conduct in accordance with Ranch standards.
• Provide courteous and responsive service while creating positive interactions with guests.
• Work cooperatively with associates across departments to support efficient operations and an exceptional guest experience.
• Follow all safety procedures and immediately report hazards, injuries, or unsafe conditions to management.
• Perform other duties as assigned based on business and operational needs.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
• Previous restaurant, hospitality, food service, or customer service experience preferred but not required.
• Previous Food Runner, Busser, Server Assistant, or similar experience is a plus.
