Job summary

Princess Cruises and Holland America Line seeks a Food Runner at Fairbanks Princess Riverside Lodge to support the Food and Beverage team by delivering orders from the kitchen to tables on time and assisting guests with needs, coordinating with the kitchen for proper prioritization.

This seasonal, full-time role requires a positive attitude, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and adherence to health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Alaska Food Handler's Card required.
• Alcohol Safety Card required.
• Ability to organize and prioritize work.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Adherence to company health and safety standards.
• Stand/Walk 8 hours per day.

Responsibilities

• Make sure orders are being prepared with correct priority and assist in final prep of the dishes before delivery.
• Deliver food orders from the kitchen to customers' tables timely and accurately.
• Help answer guests' questions and assist them with any immediate needs.
• Stock all necessary items on the expo line and create backups.
• Package carryout orders and delegate prompt delivery.
• Assist BOH with prep work or FOH with running side work during slow periods.
• Contribute to a positive guest experience with professionalism and appearance.

Food Runner

Description

The expeditor is responsible for communicating orders and information between the front of house and the back of house. They are in charge of delivering food to the correct table at the appropriate time, assisting customers with any issues that may arise and coordinating with the kitchen staff to properly prioritize orders.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Make sure orders are being prepared with correct priority and assist in final prep of the dishes before delivery.
• Deliver food orders from the kitchen to customers' tables timely and accurately.
• Help answer guests' questions and assist them with any immediate needs.
• Stock all necessary items needed on the expo line. Make back-ups of items that could run out mid-shift.
• Package carryout orders, and delegate prompt delivery.
• Assist BOH with prep work or FOH with running side work during slow periods.
• Contribute effectively to a positive guest experience while maintaining a professional attitude and appearance.

REQUIREMENTS

• Must pass a pre-employment background check.
• Minimum age of 18 years required to serve alcohol in the State of Alaska.
• Minimum age of 18 years is required to reside in company housing, where available.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States. Holland America-Princess is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas at this time (e.g., H-2B status).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

• Must have or the ability to obtain an Alaska Food Handler's Card.
• Must have or be able to obtain a valid alcohol safety card for the State of Alaska.
• Ability to organize and prioritize work, maintain attention to time constraints, while working in a team or group environment.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks and external influences.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while achieving daily goals.
• Ability to support and comply with company policies, procedures and guidelines including support and comply with company health and safety standards.
• Ability to stand/walk/work on feet for minimum of 8 hours per day.
