Job summary

Grand Pacific Resorts is seeking a Seasonal Food Server Assistant in Carlsbad, California, to assist food servers in ensuring guests have a great dining experience. Responsibilities include inspecting food presentation, delivering meals, and communicating menu details.

Position Purpose

Assists the Food Servers in providing an excellent experience to our customers, assure all outgoing dishes are correctly prepared and garnished properly, run food to customer’s tables, bus tables, stock plates, and are knowledgeable about all current menu options, beverage lists and daily specials.

Responsibilities

• Interact and communicate with Servers and Culinary staff to ensure high quality of service for our customers
• Interact with customers regarding current menu options, beverage lists and daily specials

Qualifications

• 1 year restaurant experience required or preferred
• Food Handler’s Card required
• Must speak, read, write and understand primary language(s) used in the workplace
• Must be able to read and write to facilitate communication process
• Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written
• Must possess proficient computational ability
• Must possess ability to handle cash transactions quickly and accurately
• Must possess proficient computer and POS usage skills
• Ability to solve problems and make rational decisions
• Ability to collaborate and build rapport with a wide array of individuals cohesively and remain professional, calm, and courteous at all times
• Ability to contribute to a positive, engaging, and welcoming environment for our guests
• Knowledge of resort food and beverage menus
• Knowledge of food and alcoholic beverages and be able to describe to guests in detail

Physical Demands

• Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 4 hours in length
• Must be able to exert well-paced ability in limited space
• Must be able to exert well-paced ability to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously
• Must have the ability to bend, squat and lift up to 50 lbs., including, but not limited to, lifting trays of food or food items on a regular and continuing basis
• Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis
• Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks
• Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening, hearing ability and visual acuity
• Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees
• Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near and color vision and depth perception
• Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment

Attendance & Conduct

Regular attendance is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance or tardies will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. Attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required. Employees must fully comply with Westin/Sheraton Carlsbad Resort & Spa rules and regulations; violations may lead to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
