Job summary

UNFI is seeking a Quality Specialist to ensure food product quality and safety. You will enforce GMPs, verify labels, and perform microbiological and allergen testing across the facility in Edison, NJ.

Responsibilities include line inspections, HACCP monitoring, supplier COA management, and handling customer complaints with corrective actions. Strong attention to detail and cross-functional communication are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required.
• Strong attention to detail and accurate documentation.
• Experience with GMP, SQF, and HACCP is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-operational inspections for sanitation and equipment setup.
• Monitor HACCP/CCP requirements including metal detection and roasting controls.
• Verify product labels against approved documentation and FDA labeling rules.
• Conduct microbiological, allergen, and product quality testing and documentation.
• Maintain supplier documentation and COAs; coordinate with suppliers.
• Investigate customer complaints and implement corrective actions.
• Prepare COAs, product specs, and nutritional info for customers.
• Promote GMPs and sanitation procedures across production areas.
• Train new associates on food safety, SQF, FDA, and GMP requirements.
• Participate in Food Safety, Safety, HACCP, and Crisis Management teams.
