Location : Shoreline, WA

Work schedule : Full time, 40 hours/week. Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday 8:30am – 5:00pm; Wednesday 8:30am – 7:30pm; Friday 8:30am – 2:30pm. Occasional Saturday availability, pre-planned in advance for special events/outreach.

The career opportunity:

The Food Program Supervisor works with the food team, volunteers, and clients at our no cost food assistance markets. Hopelink provides food assistance to mitigate hunger and support basic food security for low-income households in North and East King County.

The Food Program Supervisor provides coordination of the food program at Hopelink’s Shoreline Market and Service Center and provides guidance, direction, and supervision to volunteer staff. The Food Program Supervisor is responsible for weekly ordering of fresh and non-perishable food from multiple sources, maintains market inventory and overall cleanliness of the market, performs client intake, determines client eligibility, and provides appropriate information and referrals. The Food Program Supervisor provides leadership for the volunteer staff and sets the tone for culturally competent and client focused customer service for all food market participants.

  • Organized and adept at administrative tasks and budgets.
  • Intermediate level proficiency in MS Office suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, Lists, SharePoint, and general inventory software, etc.
  • Ability to do physical work and lift to 50 pounds repetitively.
  • Ability to travel to various Hopelink sites occasionally.
  • Regular ability and willingness to work weekday evenings (usually 1 or 2 times a week until 7:30pm) and very occasional weekends.
Examples of what you will be doing:
  • Responsible for the operation of Hopelink’s Shoreline Food Market (daytime & evening distributions), including set-up, operation, and clean up.
  • Actively participate in supporting a team culture which is collaborative, flexible, supportive and client and mission focused.
  • Engage directly and hands‑on with volunteers during active shifts, working alongside them to support setup, distribution, and clean‑up.
  • Maintain food inventory, knowledgeable (or interested in learning) about current food supplies, rotation of stock and safety in the workplace.
  • Recruit, train, organize, assign, and lead volunteers by example. Schedule volunteers to ensure necessary support of food market operations.
  • Utilize an inventory database to assist with food-related data and reports.
  • Responsible for weekly ordering of fresh and non‑perishable food from multiple sources.
  • Maintain cleanliness and order in the food market.
How you will be compensated:

  • Compensation: $27.39/hour ($28.39/hour for bilingual fluency in Spanish or Mandarin)
