Job summary

Bento Inc. is seeking a Food Production Supervisor for the 2nd or 3rd shift at our Chicago Food Factory. You will manage daily plant operations, supervise Production and Quality Assurance teams, and drive lean improvements to maximize yield and ensure food safety.

Effective leadership, strong communication in English and Spanish, and a background in food manufacturing are essential. The role requires flexible availability for weekend shifts in a 4:00 pm–5:00 am schedule.

Qualifications

• 3 years of experience in a food manufacturing environment, with supervisory responsibilities or 4 years as a Lead in manufacturing.
• Experience with quality systems and knowledge of statistics, HACCP, Food Safety Programs, and Six Sigma is preferred.
• Must be reliable, proactive with initiative to advance.
• English and Spanish communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day plant operations to ensure smooth production.
• Supervise Production and Quality Assurance teams and lean initiatives.
• Ensure products are manufactured in conformance with food safety practices and QA standards.
• Review and update work aids for product quality verification.
• Train and coach staff to meet productivity targets and safety requirements.
• Identify and implement process improvements and cost-reduction opportunities.
• Prepare and analyze production reports to minimize delays and costs.

Responsibilities

Join our growing team as the Food Production Supervisor, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the plant to ensure the production process is running smoothly and efficiently, and supervising various department Team Leaders, including Production and Quality Assurance. This will include optimizing production with a lean mindset, productivity, maximizing yield, accurate reporting and ensuring the highest quality for our customers.

• Monitors and guarantees that products are being manufactured in conformance with manufacturing and food safety practices.
• Works closely with QA to identify departmental and kitchen issues.
• Supervises the daily activities to ensure proper Food Safety and Quality.
• Reviews and updates work aids essential for verification of product quality.
• Responsible for managing the overall daily production process.
• Trains and coaches the team to meet defined productivity targets.
• Assists with identifying and implementing process improvement initiatives.
• Previews production and operating reports and resolves operational manufacturing and maintenance problems, to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
• Develops and works with supervisors in all areas such as problem-solving, setting and achieving goals, manufacturing processes, scheduling and equipment problems.
• Training and cross-training all employees on the production line, evaluate and review production staff, and recommend/initiate disciplinary actions.
• Encourages and promotes a culture of continuous improvement and employee engagement.
• Assists in special projects and generates a summary of the project’s performance.

Qualifications

• 3 years of experience in a food manufacturing environment required, with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a supervisory capacity or 4 years as a Lead in a manufacturing environment. Equivalent combinations of related education and/or experience may be considered.
• Experience with quality systems and knowledge of statistics, HACCP, Food Safety Programs, and Six Sigma is preferred.
• Must be reliable, responsible, and proactive with the initiative to take the next level.
• Computer literacy in Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) required.
• Excellent communication skills in English and Spanish required.
• Ability to work in a cold refrigerated environment.
• The location operates 7 days a week. Successful candidates must have flexible availability to work various shifts and weekends.
