Job summary

General Mills is seeking a skilled Millwright for the JFB Shop in Minnesota to fabricate, assemble, install, and maintain food process and packaging equipment while adhering to GMP and sanitary standards.

The role requires skilled use of fabrication drawings, layout diagrams, and rigging as well as travel for short-term installations and service. Strong safety performance and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or high school diploma plus 5 years of relevant work experience.
• Proficiency in basic computer skills for time entry and reading assembly drawings.
• Demonstrated proficiency in the use of hand and power tools.
• Ability to lift and manipulate 50 pounds.
• Willingness to work overtime, weekends, or flexible schedules and travel globally for installations/service.
• Past performance demonstrates strong safety behaviors.

Responsibilities

• Lead with safety and interpret process flow diagrams, fabrication, general arrangement, elevation, and layout drawings.
• Perform precision assembly and alignment of proprietary equipment using power transmission components, fasteners, and machine guarding.
• Crate assemblies for shipment worldwide.
• Collaborate with peers, Managers, R&D, Engineering, Plant personnel, and external suppliers.
• Proficient use of forklift, straps, chains, hoists, and rigging devices to install or remove large machinery.
• Comply with GMP and sanitary design and fabrication guidelines.
• Exercise preventive and condition-based maintenance practices and select appropriate materials.
