Job summary

As part of the kitchen team, you will help train staff, supervise assistants, and maintain sanitary practices while contributing to efficient food service operations at the Bryce Jordan Center.

Qualifications

• Shop mathematics and reading complex drawings, specifications, and charts are required.
• Equivalent to 1–3 years applied trades training.
• 9–12 months of effective experience expected.

Responsibilities

• Confer with supervisor concerning menus, recipes, quantities, leftovers, and staffing requirements.
• Prepare, season and cook food per standardized recipes and procedures; advance preparations as needed.
• Assemble food so items are served at planned times; check flavor and presentation; report deviations to supervisor.
• Maintain temperature and freshness of menu items; ensure sufficient quantities for patrons.
• Coordinate with supervisor on disposition and storage of leftovers; supervise other preparers.
• Check equipment daily for proper working conditions and cleanliness; report malfunctions.
• Assist in training other food preparers and aides; direct the work of others.
• Ensure sanitary techniques in preparation, handling and storage of food items.
