The role supports nutrition programs for military families and requires a can-do attitude and reliable transportation. The position offers 25–30 hours weekly, typically Monday–Friday, with some schedule flexibility.

Qualifications

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong organizational and planning abilities with multitasking.
  • Ability to work with multiple departments and external donors.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and prioritize tasks.
  • Experience with military community is appreciated but not required.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record; base access a plus.
  • Non-profit experience is a plus; can-do attitude is essential.

Position Title: Food Pantry Coordinator

Reporting To: Executive Director

Location:Armed Services YMCA Regional Location - 1465 Lakeside Road, VA Beach, VA 23455. The Patriot's Pantry is located on JBLCFS - 1160 D St. Virginia Beach

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt; Part Time (approximately 25-30 hours per week) Hourly rate: $18

POSITION SUMMARY

The FoodPantry Coordinator executes day-to-day duties including but not limited to sorting, stocking and purchasing food for the Patriot's Pantry and branch operations, oversight of periodic volunteers and food distribution initiatives and delivering excellent customer service. We are looking for someone who can stretch a dollar, find the best deals and fill our pantry closet with healthy food for those in need of emergency assistance food. This part-time position is approximately 25-30 hours per week and typically Monday - Friday. Some flexibility is available in the daily schedule for the right employee. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  1. Ensures the delivery of exceptional customer service to pantry patrons.

  1. Sort items received through donations

  1. Oversight of a monthly mobile food drop on a military installation

  1. Solicits and provides direction to volunteers

  1. Performs computer duties related to tracking donations, patron metrics, etc.

  1. Ensures that the pantry is clean and stocked as needed.

  1. Handles pick up and purchase of food for the pantry.

  1. Assist with social media presence and other public relations initiatives.

  1. Oversight of the food subsidy program which encourages more nutritious meals and snacks in child care facilities.

  1. Performs other duties as assigned to support food insecurity programs at the branch

QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Possess a High School Diploma or equivalent.

  1. Possess solid organization and planning skills. Be proficient in multi-tasking.

  1. Must be able to function in various work environments and work with multiple internal departments and external donors and organizations

  1. Must be able to work with minimal supervision and prioritize work assignments with minimal guidance.

  1. Experience with military lifestyles/military community is appreciated but not necessary

  1. Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record. Base access a plus.

  1. Work experience with a non-profit organization is a plus but not necessary.

  1. Desire to work on a team and have a CAN-DO attitude

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  1. Sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to perform essential functions.

  1. Must be able to lift 20 pounds.

  1. Although a rare occurrence, we may be expected to work at special events outside normal working hours, including some weekends.

  1. Expected to complete local pickups and food runs.
