Job summary

The Salvation Army Williston Corps is seeking a dedicated Food Pantry Assistant to support daily pantry operations, donation pickups, and inventory management. You will assist with food distribution, volunteer training, and ensuring food safety and compliance while providing courteous, person-centered service to participants.

Role is 100% site-based with no remote work. Requires a high school diploma, valid driver’s license, and the ability to pass background checks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous experience in food service, pantry operations, warehouse, inventory, customer service, or related environment preferred.
• Must complete all required background checks.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet MVR requirements.
• Knowledge of safe food handling and sanitation practices.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Basic computer proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Donation pickups & receiving (40%): Drive to local businesses to collect food and donations; load, unload and transport items.
• Food distribution & participant services (30%): Prepare and distribute food boxes with courteous service.
• Volunteer training & support (10%): Orient and guide volunteers for pantry operations.
• Food pantry operations & compliance (10%): Maintain cleanliness and safety per health standards.
• Inventory, donation processing & recordkeeping (10%): Inspect, sort, store, and track inventory.
