Job description

Manages and directs the daily operations of the restaurant, including selection, development and performance management of employees. Manages the day-to-day operational and financial activities to optimize profits and ensure that guests are satisfied with their dining experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Staff Management and Personnel:
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date daily plan of staffing needs. Assists with schedule preparation and ensures that the operation is staffed for all shifts.
  • Ensures that all food and beverage staff are properly trained and follow appropriate steps of service.
  • Assists with interviews and recommends hourly candidates to Assistant General Manager for employment.
  • Manages performance of hourly employees and when necessary, disciplines according to policy with action steps and feedback as required in conjunction with Assistant General Manager.
  • Ensures the smooth flow of service in the venue and at the reception desk to ensure maximum guest satisfaction and enhance the overall experience.
  • Participates in and/or facilitates daily pre-meal meetings at the start of every shift.
  • Ensures all health and safety restaurant policies and procedures are followed.
  • Maintains a positive working relationship with vendors, suppliers and maintenance personnel.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all daily financial related administrative duties are completed accurately, on time and in accordance with company policies and procedures. This includes accountability for daily sales reconciliation (for hourly staff and restaurant) and daily cash handling, proper labeling & storage of sales receipts.
  • Performs sales operational functions using point-of-service (POS) restaurant software application.
  • Full understanding and working knowledge of restaurant operations software utilized by the General Manager.
  • Controls cash and other receipts by adhering to cash handling and reconciliation procedures in accordance with restaurant policies and procedures.
  • Assists the Assistant General Manager with oversight of beverage operations, including inventory, ordering and vendor relations while maintaining budgeted costs.
  • Assists the Assistant General Manager in inventorying and ordering certain types of restaurant related products (e.g., china, flatware, glasses, logo paper goods) to ensure proper amounts are available during the course of each day.
Guest Service
  • Ensures exceptional guest service in all areas. Ensures that all guests feel welcome and are given responsive, friendly and courteous service.
  • Maintains high visibility on venue floor, including “bay touches”.
  • Reports complaints and resolution steps to Assistant General Manager.
  • Expediently responds to guest complaints, taking any and all appropriate actions to turn dissatisfied guests into return guests.
Food & Beverage Planning:
  • Enforces sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness, and maintenance of kitchen and dining areas. Ensures compliance with operational standards, company policies, federal/state/local laws, and ordinances.
  • Responsible for ensuring consistent high quality of food preparation, as well as service uniforms and appearance standards.
  • Assists with coordinating, organizing, and executing private events and large parties.
  • Ensures that all hourly staff is properly trained on menu and beverage lists by providing descriptions for all product and conducting periodic testing of that knowledge.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Required Education, Training, Knowledge and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent, preferred in hotel and restaurant management or related field. A combination of practical experience and education will be considered as an alternative.
  • Minimum of 1 year of directly related restaurant management experience in full service casual dining that includes personnel management and operational experience.
  • ServSafe Food Certification and TIPS Certification Required.
  • Working knowledge in the following dimensions of restaurant functions: daily cash handling, sanitation, security, company policies and procedures, personnel management, recordkeeping, and preparation of reports.
  • Experience in restaurant point-of-service (POS) systems.
  • Knowledge of state alcohol serving regulations.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
