Job summary

Denver Country Club is seeking an experienced Banquet Captain to deliver personalized service and hospitality to our members and guests. The role emphasizes leadership, event coordination, and flawless execution of all banquets.

The position is full-time, non-exempt, with a 32-40 hour schedule and an hourly rate of $24-$25. Benefits are offered per club policy and include a positive, values-centric work environment.

Qualifications

• Prior experience as a Banquet Captain or in a dining banquet facility.
• Excellent communication and follow-through skills.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule including holidays and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Provide ongoing, hands-on training with banquet staff; leads by example.
• Prepare staff for each event by delegating tasks before, during, and after.
• Lead pre and post shift meetings with staff assigned to each event.
• Inspect function areas for correctness and appearance per the BEO details.
• Work with kitchen staff to ensure menu accuracy and preferences.
• Inspect areas after events to ensure tidying and clear-up.
• Plan for future functions by using downtime for prep work.
• Ensure functions are billed correctly after each event.
• Assist Banquet Manager with scheduling for banquet staff.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by the Manager.

Established in 1887, Denver Country Club is recognized as the first club west of the Mississippi and one of the most prestigious private clubs in the country. The 585 member, by invitation only private club, hosts an 18 hole golf course, two indoor golf simulators (Foresight Quads), indoor and outdoor tennis, platform tennis, pickleball, ice hockey, lawn bowling, croquet, casual and fine dining. The club as been recognized as a Top 100 Platinum Clubs of American by the Club Leaders Forum. DCC has a long history of golf championships including the Denver Open (PGA Tour Event 1962-1964), Trans-Mississippi Amateur(2022)Pacific Coast Amateur and Curtis Cup (1984). The Denver Country Club isseeking an experienced Banquet Captain for our special events at the DCC with an emphasis of delivering personalized service & hospitality to our club members and their guests.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide ongoing, hands-on training with banquet staff. Leads by example.
• Prepares staff for each event by delegating tasks prior to, during, and after every every event.
• Leads pre and post shift meetings with all staff assigned to each event.
• Inspects function area prior to event start for correctness and appearance according to the details on the BEO
• Work with kitchen staff to ensure accuracy of event menu and preferences
• Inspect all event areas after the function to ensure area is tidied and cleared prior to leaving
• Plan for future functions by getting prep work completed during any down time.
• Ensures functions are billed correctly and completely after each event.
• Assists Banquet Manager with scheduling for all banquet staff to ensure proper service.
• Other tasks as assigned by the Manager

REQUIREMENTS:

• Prior Experience as a Captain in a dining or banquet facility
• Great upbeat attitude and a passion for service
• Must have great communication skills & follow through skills
• Work a flexible schedule
• Works holidays and/or weekend based on demand
• Can work well in a fast paced, yet friendly work environment
• Must be able to lift, carry, push and pull banquet related items
• Must be able to stand and walk on your feet for long periods of time
