Job summary

Exclusive Collection’s Fanhams Hall in Ware, Hertfordshire, is seeking a Food and Beverage Supervisor to lead service across the restaurant, bar and events. You will work with the Food and Beverage management team to bring confidence, energy and personality to every shift, engaging guests and ensuring smooth service.

This hands-on role concentrates on dining and bar service, weddings and celebrations, with opportunities to develop leadership within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Experience in a restaurant, bar or hospitality environment with supervisory responsibilities.
• A genuine passion for food, drink and creating memorable guest experiences.
• A confident, engaging communicator with guests and colleagues.
• Ability to motivate and support a team during busy service.
• Organised, proactive and calm under pressure with adaptability to service styles.

Responsibilities

• Support the F&B management team with daily delivery of restaurant, bar and event service.
• Supervise the team on shift, creating a warm, polished and efficient atmosphere.
• Lead pre-service briefings and allocate responsibilities to ensure readiness.
• Welcome and engage with guests, anticipate needs and handle questions confidently.
• Oversee flow and pace of service, coordinating with kitchen, bar and event teams.
• Maintain high presentation and service standards across spaces and events.
• Support weddings, private dining, celebrations and other occasions.
• Develop menu, wine and drinks knowledge and build confidence of the team.
• Train and support new team members with guidance during service.
• Assist with stock control, opening/closing duties and service area prep.
• Ensure food safety, allergens, licensing, health & safety and procedures are followed.
• Lead by example, remaining visible, calm and hands-on throughout service.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Food and Beverage management team with the daily delivery of restaurant, bar and event service.
• Supervise the team on shift, creating a positive atmosphere and ensuring service is warm, polished and efficient.
• Lead pre-service briefings, allocate responsibilities and make sure every area is fully prepared.
• Welcome and engage with guests, anticipating their needs and confidently handling questions or concerns.
• Oversee the flow and pace of service, communicating closely with the kitchen, bar and event teams.
• Maintain excellent presentation and service standards throughout the restaurant, bar, lounge and event spaces.
• Support the delivery of weddings, private dining, celebrations and other special occasions.
• Develop strong menu, wine and drinks knowledge and help build the confidence of the wider team.
• Train and support new team members, providing helpful guidance and feedback during service.
• Assist with stock control, opening and closing duties, and the preparation of service areas.
• Ensure food safety, allergen, licensing, health and safety, and company procedures are followed consistently.
• Lead by example, remaining visible, calm and hands-on throughout every service.

Person Specification

• Previous experience in a restaurant, bar or quality hospitality environment, ideally with supervisory responsibilities.
• A genuine passion for food, drink and creating memorable guest experiences.
• A confident and engaging communicator who enjoys working with both guests and colleagues.
• Able to motivate and support a team while remaining hands-on during busy service.
• Organised, proactive and calm under pressure, with the ability to adapt to different service styles.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to consistently high standards.
• Experience supporting weddings, private dining or special events would be an advantage.
• Professional, dependable and comfortable taking initiative.
• A positive attitude and a natural desire to make every guest feel welcome.
