Job summary

Army Non-Appropriated Funds (NAF) at Fort Rucker, AL, is seeking a flexible, customer-focused food service worker. You will prepare and serve items like hot dogs, nachos, lemonade, and other snacks while maintaining a clean work area and accurate cash handling.

This role requires the ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 40 pounds, and work rotating shifts including evenings and weekends. Training in food sanitation is provided; a health assessment may be required.

Requirements
Conditions of employment
  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Satisfactory completion of a minimum of 4 hours initial food sanitation and safety training is required within 30 days of employment and a minimum of 4 hours refresher training annually.
  • Must meet state/local age requirements (21) at the time of appointment if serving alcoholic beverages.
  • Successful completion of a health assessment is required.
  • Must be available to work rotating shifts.
  • Must be available to work days, evening, weekends, and holidays.
  • Frequently lifts and moves items weighing up to 40. Requires constantly standing, stooping, bending, walking and reaching.
  • Must attend Team Member Orientation within the first thirty (30) days of employment
  • This is a flexible position. Flexible positions have no guaranteed hours. A flexible employee serves in a continuing position on a scheduled or as needed basis

Skill and Knowledge: Able to work alone. Know the proper use of special cleaning and sanitizing solutions. Know simple food handling techniques. Able to work safely. Able to serve uniform individual portions and avoid distractions when several guests ask for different items at the same time. Able to use simple arithmetic.

Area of Consideration
  • This job is open to candidates who in the local commuting area (U.S. Citizens and Non U.S. Citizens that live within 50 miles of Ft. Rucker, AL). Military Spouse Preference (MSP) and Involuntarily Separated Military Preference (ISMP) eligible candidates are included in the area of consideration.
PCS Costs
  • Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
Allowances and Differentials
  • This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week -- whichever gives the employee more benefit. Regular full-time, regular part-time, and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays. Employees may also be eligible to receive extra pay if the majority of their scheduled hours falls after 3:00 PM.
  • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
