Job summary

One Federal Solution is seeking experienced Journeyman FOIA Contractors to support mid-level FOIA processing for a government client. You will interpret requests, perform searches, apply exemptions, redact records, and draft final responses.

The role requires at least 2 years of FOIA processing experience, an Associate degree, and strong written communication. You will manage diverse FOIA cases and ensure compliance with timeliness and agency guidelines.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of FOIA processing experience within the last 36 months.
• Strong knowledge of FOIA exemptions, timelines, request types, and proper application of redactions.
• Experience conducting or validating FOIA searches.
• Proficiency with redaction tools and FOIA case management systems.
• Excellent written communication and attention to detail.
• Associate degree required; additional FOIA experience may substitute for education.
• FOIA-related training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and analyze FOIA requests to identify scope, searches, and coordination requirements.
• Conduct or validate searches for responsive records across VA Service Lines.
• Apply FOIA exemptions accurately and document justification.
• Redact records using approved tools and prepare releasable documents.
• Draft acknowledgment letters, interim responses, fee communications, and final responses.
• Process Simple, Complex, Expedited, and Backlogged requests within statutory timelines.
• Support rolling releases and meet production requirements (minimum 500 pages/request/week).
• Maintain updates in the eFOIA system and FOIA Request Tracker.
• Ensure accuracy and compliance with DOJ OIP guidance and VA correspondence rules.
