Job summary

Henry County Water Authority (HCWA) is seeking a field inspector to support the Industrial Monitoring Program. The role involves inspecting grease interceptors, sampling as needed, and ensuring compliance with sewer use regulations.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED and a valid Georgia driver’s license. Candidates will record data in GIS software and coordinate with HCWA teams during inspections and maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities

• Review records on permitted industry operation and inspect grease/oil and water interceptors.
• Record inspection data into GIS-based software and maintain related databases.
• Participate in annual inspections of septage trucks and surveillance of FOG haulers.
• Maintain cooperative relationships with customers, departments, and HCWA GIS team.
• Ensure Authority vehicles are maintained and safe to operate.

Job description

Summary:Under direct supervision of the Water Reclamation Compliance Superintendent, performs compliance inspections within the Industrial Monitoring Program. Inspects fat, oil, and grease pretreatment devices to ensure compliance with HCWA’s Sewer Use Ordinance and all applicable state and federal laws as required by the Clean Water Act.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Assists in inspections and sampling of grease interceptors and oil and water separators.
• Aids in reviewing records on permitted industry operation and activities; inspects the size, installation and maintenance of grease / oil and water interceptors.
• Helps with new grease / oil and water separator installation inspections.
• Accurately records inspection data into GIS-based software.
• Participates in annual inspections of septage trucks.
• Assists in surveillance of septic and FOG haulers by checking trucks and manifests as needed.
• Helps maintain a database of HCWA Grease Management Program customers that includes records of inspections, re-inspections, undersized interceptors, overdue manifests, MNGWPD requirements and maintenance.
• Maintains cooperative relationships with customers, coworkers and other groups such as the Environmental Health Department, Department of Agriculture, HCWA Maintenance personnel and the HCWA GIS department.
• Maintains Authority vehicles, including but not limited to checking oil, coolant, tire pressure, lights, cleanliness and safety checks.

Education and/or Experience:High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid Georgia Driver's License.
