Britten, Inc. is a world-class event fabricator based in Traverse City, MI, seeking dependable, hands-on team members for our fabrication shop.

The role involves working with wood, foam, plastics, metals, and other materials to complete diverse projects from concept through completion. Ideal candidates will follow shop drawings, maintain quality, and contribute to a fast-paced environment with a strong emphasis on safety, teamwork, and core values.

Qualifications

• Fabrication or related experience is a plus but not required.
• Follows instructions, shop drawings and established shop processes.
• Outstanding work ethic and dependability.
• Willing to jump between different tasks and departments.
• Safety procedures and PPE must be followed.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret shop drawings and project instructions to ensure accurate fabrication and assembly.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment to cut, shape, sand, and assemble materials.
• Perform sanding and surface preparation to achieve smooth, quality finishes.
• Inspect work for quality, accuracy, and proper finishing.
• Follow all safety standards and maintain a clean, organized work area.
• Work additional hours and weekends as needed; cross-train in other production areas.

Job Summary and Job Functions

• Work with various materials such as foam, wood, metals, and plastics to complete projects
• Read and interpret shop drawings, measurements, and project instructions and processes to ensure accurate fabrication and assembly
• Use a variety of hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment to cut, shape, sand, and assemble materials
• Perform sanding and surface preparation as needed to achieve smooth, quality finishes
• Inspect work for quality, accuracy, and proper finishing
• Follows all safety standards and procedures
• Keep work areas clean, safe, and organized
• Works with a sense of urgency to meet deadlines without compromising quality
• Work additional hours and weekends as needed
• Crosstrain and assist in other production departments as needed

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
• Standing. Particularly for sustained periods of time.
