Linked, LLC in Owosso, MI is seeking an experienced Packaging Engineer to lead the design and development of engineered foam packaging and protective dunnage solutions. You will guide packaging designs from concept through product launch, collaborating with engineering, manufacturing, sales, and customer teams.

The role requires expertise in expanded foam packaging, CAD tools, and cross-functional project management, with travel as needed to meet customers and suppliers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of expanded foam packaging design, including wall thicknesses, coring, draft angles, and geometric limitations.
• Understanding of expanded foam manufacturing processes, including machine sizes, mold parting lines, cavity layouts, fill gun locations, and knockout locations.
• Knowledge of packaging handling tests used to verify and validate designs.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software and CAD/CAM tools for generating CNC router toolpaths.
• Strong analytical, creative problem-solving, and project management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
• Ability to independently manage projects and meet customer expectations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
• Ability to travel as needed to meet with customers, suppliers, and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Support the design, development, manufacturing, and implementation of custom packaging solutions.
• Assist sales, manufacturing, data management, and costing teams throughout product commercialization.
• Collaborate with suppliers, customers, and engineering teams on design solutions and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) improvements.
• Complete and submit engineering design release documentation for new product launches and product changes.
• Schedule and lead meetings with manufacturing, sales, quality, and other departments to review design concepts.
• Maintain established safety, quality, and customer satisfaction standards.
