Job summary

HCA Healthcare in Gainesville, FL is seeking a Food Services Assistant to join our patient meals team. You will perform a variety of food service tasks, including food preparation for patients, dish-room duties, and cleaning, while following established guidelines and safety procedures.

You will work with a team that values care and collaboration, handling servings, portioning, labeling, and restocking to meet daily service needs.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Some kitchen experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare various foods and beverages for patients.
  • Always prepare and portion foods following established guidelines, recipes, and production sheets.
  • Consistently cover, label, and date foods and store them properly according to procedures.
  • Follow proper food handling techniques (gloves, handwashing, hair covering, no eating on the job, etc.).
  • Prepare and set up food and supplies in sufficient quantity to cover service requirements. Restock as needed.
  • Check daily menu needs and complete advance preparation for the next day.
  • Help reduce cost by minimizing waste and over production.
  • Act in a cost‑conscious manner by utilizing leftovers appropriately.
  • Promptly report food shortages, outdated items, or any products received in an unacceptable condition.
