Job summary

EIRMC in Idaho Falls is hiring a Part Time Food & Nutrition Services Associate to prepare meals for patients, staff, and guests. You will follow recipes and production sheets, ensure proper labeling and storage, and maintain food safety practices across service areas.

The role supports a compassionate hospital team, with responsibilities including portioning, menu prep for the next day, and minimizing waste while maintaining quality and safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Food Handlers Permit or ServSafe Certification is required.
• Experience in food service, hospital diet office, and cash register is preferred.
• Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.

Responsibilities

• Prepare various foods and beverages for patients.
• Follow established guidelines, recipes, and production sheets for portioning.
• Label, date, and store foods properly.
• Follow proper food handling techniques (gloves, handwashing, hair covering).
• Ensure sufficient quantities to cover service requirements and restock as needed.
• Check daily menu needs and complete advance preparation for the next day.
• Help reduce costs by minimizing waste and overproduction.
• Use leftovers cost-consciously.
• Report shortages or outdated items promptly.

Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Food & Nutrition Services Associate at our facility you will have the opportunity to be both a nutrition professional and a caregiver, providing delicious and nutritious meals for patients, staff, and others when they need it most. You will be joining a hard-working and compassionate team that is so vital for the day-to-day functions of our hospital. In this role:

• Prepare various foods and beverages for patients.
• Always prepare and portion foods following established guidelines, recipes, and production sheets.
• Consistently cover, label, and date foods and stores them properly according to procedures.
• Follow proper food handling techniques (gloves, handwashing, hair covering, no eating on the job, etc.)
• Always prepare and set up food and supplies in sufficient quantity to cover service requirements. Restock as needed.
• Always check daily menu needs and complete advance preparation for the next day.
• Help to reduce cost by minimizing waste and over production.
• Act in a cost-conscious manner by utilizing leftovers appropriately.
• Promptly report food shortages, outdated items or any products received in an unacceptable condition.

Job Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Food Handlers Permit or ServSafe Certification required.
• Food service, hospital diet office, and cash register experience preferred.
• Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English.
• Must be 18 years of age.
