Job summary

Nokia is seeking an experienced Network Engineer in Maryland to develop high-level and low-level designs for complex network requirements. You will support capacity planning, performance analysis, and end-to-end design activities for deployment projects.

The role requires a engineering degree with 5+ years' experience, expertise in GPON/XGS/25G, SDN/NMD/NETCONF/YANG, and strong Python automation skills, along with excellent communication abilities.

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering or a technical field; at least 5 years of work experience.
• Knowledge of Access Technologies (GPON, XGS, 25G).
• Knowledge of SDAN / NETCONF / YANG.
• Knowledge of Layer 2/Layer 3 IP protocols, QoS.
• Knowledge of Automation using Python.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Develops HLD/LLD for medium-high complexity network requirements, capacity planning, network interface analysis, and provide overall engineering support.
• Uses planning tools in Advanced Network Planning.
• Consult and independently develops configuration file, capacity planning, network interface analysis and design, and overall engineering support based on ongoing traffic trends.
• Prepares configuration for new network elements for live and testing.
• Troubleshooting activities for live network problems or issues found during acceptance.

Covers the execution of end-to-end design-related activities (address surveys, site surveys, design and as-built) for deployment projects.
How You Will Contribute And What You Will Learn

Key Skills And Experience
You have:

• A degree in engineering or a technical field and at least 5 years of work experience
• Knowledge of Access Technologies (GPON, XGS, 25G)
• Knowledge of SDAN / NETCONF / YANG
• Knowledge of Layer 2/Layer 3 IP protocols, QoS
• Knowledge of Automation using Python.

It would be nice if you also had:

• Familiarity with ring architectures (MPLS & ERPS), Routing Protocols.
• Familiarity with Nokia 7x50 routers and switches
• Familiarity with Agentic AI
