Job summary

Kaleidoscope is seeking an experienced Fly-By-Wire and Secondary Flight Control System Engineer to advance certification programs in the aerospace sector. The role emphasizes integration, requirements development, and collaboration with a flight control supplier to meet project milestones.

The ideal candidate holds a mechanical or aerospace engineering degree with at least seven years in aerospace and is fluent in English and French. Occasional travel to supplier sites and regulators is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• Minimum 7 years in aerospace-related field.
• Involved in the definition and certification of FBW and/or Secondary Flight Control systems.
• Knowledge of Part 25 certification process.
• Fluent in English and French.
• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Integrate FBW and secondary flight controls on the aircraft.
• Support design concepts and philosophy with the flight control supplier.
• Develop and verify technical requirements of the Flight Control System.
• Review and prepare technical requirements and test procedures.
• Execute test rigs and aircraft testing; prepare test reports for certification.
• Troubleshoot in-service aircraft; determine root cause and corrective actions.
• Ensure ARP4754 development process compliance.
• Support trade studies and life cycle cost analyses.
• Interface with electrical, hydraulic, avionics systems; align with customer standards.
• Occasional travel to supplier facilities and regulatory authorities.

Job Title: Fly-By-Wire & Secondary Control System Engineer

Job Location: Wichita, KS

What are your contributions to the team?

• Perform the integration of the FBW & Secondary Flight Controls system on the aircraft.
• Support the development of concepts, design approach and philosophy with the Flight Control system supplier.
• Perform/Review analysis to evaluate concepts feasibility.
• Develop, validate and verify technical requirements of the Flight Control System.
• Review/Prepare technical requirements
• Review/Prepare test procedures
• Execute test rig and/or aircraft testing
• Review/Prepare test reports in support of certification activities
• Resolve problems arising from in-service aircraft.
• Troubleshooting, root cause determination, corrective action definition and execution
• Ensure compliance to the ARP4754 development process.
• Support trade o???? studies and life cycle cost analysis for future programs.
• Ensure the design process and the resulting equipment implementation is in line with Customer requirements and standards.

Occasional trips to the Suppliers facilities and Regulatory Authorities, as well as on-site support to the Final Assembly Line.

How to thrive in this role?

• You hold a bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering and have a minimum of 7 years’ experience in aerospace related field.
• You have been directly involved in the definition and certification of at least one FBW and/or Secondary Flight Control system.
• You possess a good understanding of all facets of system definition, integration, and certification and have a knowledge of aircraft systems and interfaces (e.g., electrical, hydraulic, avionics, autoflight).
• You have knowledge of Part 25 certification process.
• You have experience in modeling and dynamic simulation of flight controls electrical and hydraulic actuators is an asset.
• You have a working knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow simulation environment.
• You have some familiarity with other simulation environments such as ADAMS, or design tools such as CATIA would be an asset.
• You have good knowledge of MS O????ice and Requirements Management tools is an asset.
• You are fluent in both English and French.
• You have the ability to work with limited supervision, be organized, a team player, and a self-motivated person, be Customer focused, and be able to work under pressure.
• You must also show initiative, innovation, a strong sense of responsibility and integrity, adaptability, have good interpersonal communication skills, have a good engineering judgement, and drive for results.
