Job summary

San Francisco High School Of The Arts is seeking a passionate Band Teacher to join our music faculty. The ideal candidate teaches band and woodwind instruments with a focus on flute and ensemble performance.

You will develop engaging lesson plans, lead rehearsals, prepare students for concerts, and collaborate with other instructors and parents to support student growth. A strong background in woodwinds and a commitment to inclusive music education are essential.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Music, Music Education, or related field.
Strong woodwind performance background; flute major preferred.
Experience teaching school bands, youth ensembles, or private lessons.
Ability to teach students with varying levels of experience.
Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

Teach beginning and intermediate band classes and/or private lessons.
Provide high-quality instruction in woodwind instruments, with an emphasis on flute.
Conduct rehearsals and prepare students for concerts, recitals, and other performances.
Develop engaging lesson plans that build musicianship, technique, and ensemble skills.
Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
Foster a positive, encouraging, and inclusive learning environment.
Collaborate with fellow music instructors and communicate effectively with students and parents.
