Job summary

Tecomet is seeking a qualified candidate to perform non-destructive testing using fluorescent penetrant inspection to ensure compliance with customer and national standards. You will read procedures, document results, and communicate findings to internal teams.

The role requires attention to detail, the ability to work under pressure, and accurate record-keeping. A HS diploma and 2 years’ related experience are preferred, with NAS 410/SNTC credentials advantageous.

Qualifications

  • 2 years related experience and/or training preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED required; NAS 410 and SNTC preferred.
  • Excellent communication and ability to work independently are essential.
  • Experience with fluorescent penetrant inspection equipment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs non-destructive testing on products using fluorescent penetrant inspection as required.
  • Determines acceptability of product based on test results.
  • Interprets results and identifies probable causes of defects.
  • Documents and publishes results of FPI testing.
  • Reads and interprets safety rules, operating instructions, and procedures.
  • Writes routine reports and communicates findings clearly to groups.

Job description

Performs non-destructive testing on products using fluorescent penetrant inspection as required to conform to customer and/or national standards, by performing the following duties. The role requires the above to be accomplished within Tecomet’s principles of continuous improvement, customer driven innovation and a win first culture, while meeting company financial and other performance metrics.

  • Performs inspection procedures following customers’ specifications.
  • Determines acceptability of product based on results of testing.
  • Interprets results and determines probable cause of defects.
  • Performs daily system checks.
  • Documents and publishes results of FPI testing.
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. And compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. And deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Work well under pressure and to remain flexible to changing schedules and demands.
  • Additional duties as requested by management.

Qualification Requirements

Credentials/Experience:

  • 2 years related experience and/or training preferred

Experience/Educational/Training Preferred:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • SNTC Level I or II preferred
  • NAS 410 Level I or II preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and exercise judgment
  • Working knowledge of fluorescent penetrant inspection equipment
