Job summary

SpaceX Bastrop, TX seeks a Fluid Systems Engineer for the Solar Cell Factory (Starlink). You will design, build, and optimize fluid systems for the delivery of gases, chemicals, and exhaust in solar cell fabrication, with emphasis on safety handling of hazardous materials in a high-volume manufacturing setting.

You will own cradle-to-grave projects, size equipment, perform P&ID development and system analyses, and collaborate with process engineers to improve delivery rates, purity, and recycle

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, chemical, aerospace or related engineering field.
• 1+ years hands-on build or design experience (internships/clubs count).
• Advanced degree in engineering or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and activate fluids systems for distribution of gases, chemicals, and exhaust used in solar cell processes.
• Cradle-to-grave project ownership including requirement definition, design, justification, procurement, build, commissioning, and PM.
• Design modular systems scalable for future solar production facilities.
• Apply fluids/mechanical engineering methods: P&ID development, sizing, thermal analysis, CONOPs, structural analysis, materials selection.
• Perform safety/hazard assessments (FMEA/HAZOP) for hazardous systems and emergency CONOPs.
• Design and deploy data acquisition and control for fluid facilities
• Collaborate with process engineers to integrate fluid systems with manufacturing equipment and optimize delivery rates and purity
• Support installation, commissioning, troubleshooting with facilities ops, EHS, automation, procurement
• Ensure OSHA, EPA, ASME, NFPA, SEMI standards compliance for chemical/gas handling
• Track performance metrics and contribute to lean and sustainability initiatives
• Travel frequently and lift 25 lbs; willingness to work extended hours/weekends as needed
