Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced engineer to design, analyze, and integrate fluid systems for aerospace applications. You will develop pressurized fluid systems from concept through production, including tube routing, component selection, and safety analysis for flight hardware.

The role emphasizes fluids/thermal systems expertise, collaboration across disciplines, and active participation in design reviews and documentation. Relocation is provided; travel up to 25% is expected.

Qualifications

  • Four-year aerospace or mechanical engineering degree (or similar discipline).
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role.
  • Experience with solid modelling, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and configuration control of engineering and documentation.
  • Experience understanding fabrication and installation drawings.
  • Knowledge of standard components, installation, and fabrication methods of piping systems (pipe stock, fittings, connections, valves, fasteners, structural members, fittings, welding, etc.).
  • Knowledge of typical use, constraints, and specification of fluid components typical in tubing and piping systems (valves, regulators, pumps, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with teams composed of multiple roles and disciplines to achieve a common goal.
  • Knowledge of 3D CAD programs (Creo preferred) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) programs (ANSYS Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Develop and validate models of fluid systems using relevant software tools.
  • Conduct experiments and analyze data to understand system and component performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate fluid systems into vehicle structure.
  • Prepare technical documentation and present findings to stakeholders.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide technical input for continuous improvement.
  • Good project management skills are vital, including vendor management, scheduling, and budget tracking.
  • Author component specifications and manage suppliers through design, development, qualification and delivery of flight hardware.

As part of a hardworking team of engineers, technicians, and specialists, you will design, analyze, and integrate fluid systems for aerospace applications. This role involves the development of pressurized fluid systems from concept through production, including tube routing, component selection, and pressure system structural and safety analysis for flight hardware. The ideal candidate will have experience in fluids and thermal systems, engineering principles, and the ability to work in a collaborative environment. Minimum Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands‑on experience operating and troubleshooting mechanical and/or piping systems.
  • Experience with creating process hazards analyses, job hazards analysis and formal risk evaluation.
  • Experience with design and operation of typical aerospace fuel, oxidizer, and high‑pressure pneumatic systems.
  • Experience with design, operations, and maintenance of cryogenic systems.
  • Knowledge of precision cleaning processes / levels and passivation of stainless steel.
  • Knowledge of marine environment corrosion mitigation (material and coatings selection).
  • Familiarity with test equipment, such as multimeters, dew point meters, vacuum equipment, regulator panels.
  • Work with REFPROP, SINDA/FLUINT and Thermal Desktop or other fluid modeling software.
  • Experience troubleshooting fluids hardware.

Base Pay Range for: CO applicants is $110,938.00 - $155,312.85 WA applicants is $121,023.00 - $169,432.20 Other site ranges may differ.
