Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a qualified engineer to support the development and operations of the New Glenn program. The role involves ensuring readiness of launch vehicle, ground equipment, and personnel across build, test, pre-launch, boost, and orbital operations, with real-time console support.

The candidate will apply system engineering principles, contribute to integrated testing, and collaborate with design, software, and operations teams to advance safe, repeatable spaceflight.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, or related field)
  • 5+ years of proven experience in Aerospace or large scale system integration
  • Demonstrated understanding of system engineering principles and processes
  • Experience in at least one of the areas of analysis, design, or integrated testing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-directed and capable of balancing several tasks at one time

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the launch vehicle, ground equipment, and personnel are readied for all phases of the New Glenn mission including build, test, pre-launch, boost, orbital operations, landing, and recovery
  • Serve as a technical point of contact for design, test, software, operations, and refurbishment artifacts
  • Decompose the time-phased Sequence of Operations into operational constraints, alerts, and limits
  • Ensure consistency, accuracy, and appropriate integration of operating requirements into procedures, scripts, and displays used during vehicle operations
  • Provide real-time on console support for integrated tests, launch and recovery operations providing crucial troubleshooting support
  • Assess, identify and support fixes to gaps or optimizations in system operational timeline
  • Understand how subsystem control software operates across flight and ground systems to ensure safety and mission success
  • Provide operational feedback to subsystem designers and support operational analysis

Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight! This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable. As part of a hardworking team of specialists, technicians, engineers, you will contribute to the development, integration, and implementation of the New Glenn operational architecture. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of the New Glenn System—spanning CONOPS, functional architecture, components, software, and system-level interactions. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight. Working closely with System Operations Integration lead, and you will create a comprehensive set of constraints, alerts, and limits for the New Glenn test and launch teams. The ideal candidate is highly diligent and future thinking, can handle a broad set of sophisticated data, and has a deep passion for Blue Origin’s mission of “Millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth”.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, or related field) or another technical field
  • 5+ years of proven experience in Aerospace or large scale system integration
  • Demonstrated understanding of system engineering principles and processes
  • Experience in at least one of the areas of analysis, design, or integrated testing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-directed and capable of balancing several tasks at one time
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in system development and integration, preferably with aerospace flight hardware
  • Hands-on system integration experience; familiar with test, troubleshooting, and performance optimization
  • Knowledge of fluid system design, including P&ID development
  • Familiarity with current systems engineering and integration tools and methodologies
  • Experience with systems engineering tools such as DOORS Next Gen

Base Pay Range for: WA applicants is $121,023.00 - $169,432.20
