Job summary

Quaker Houghton in Middletown, OH is seeking a Fluidcare Technician to participate in chemical additions, perform tests, and assist in maintaining coolant and fluid systems on site.

The role includes data entry, equipment maintenance, sampling, and safe operation of tools and industrial equipment; flexibility with hours may be required.

The successful applicant will work with site staff and customers to ensure coolant parameters meet specifications and support quality control initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Participate in chemical additions: coolants, greases, oils, lubricants, cleaners, biocides per site staff
• Perform bio-stick dip tests on all machine sumps and central systems
• Assist coolant filter/pumps/air handling system maintenance for sump changes and cleaning
• Measure coolant parameters and maintain lubrication schedules to ensure proper coolant conditions
• May involve dropping and cleaning tanks as required
• Liaise with customer on coolant parameter changes; enter results in databases and prepare shift reports
• Assist in routine maintenance on customer equipment and fluid systems including product additions, filter changes, sump cleaning
• Assist in disposing contaminated items per prescribed measures including waste management and recycling
• Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment (scales, pH meters, glassware, incubators) per site plan
• Maintain tools and utility equipment (pumps, sump suckers, coolant dispensers) safely
• Cut-up, mount and prepare parts for metallurgical testing; surface etching of parts
• Measurement and metallurgical determinations: hardness and microstructure
• Support site organization initiatives (inventory, storage, labeling)
• May work in manufacturing with union associates; interact with production/technical personnel and other suppliers
• May operate hand tools/shop tools
• May operate industrial equipment (fork trucks, sump suckers, power washers, tuggers)
• May require flexible hours; carry out other duties as directed
• May have tasks related to quality control, metalogical heat treat and steel industry
• Provide Fluidcare services as required by Site Manager/Lead Technician; may include equipment recycling
• Must safely work in potentially hazardous situations adhering to Life Saving Rules

Job description

• Participate in addition of chemicals; including coolants, greases, oils, lubricants, cleaners and biocides as directed by site staff.

• Perform bio-stick dip tests of all machine sumps and central systems.

• Assist in the maintenance of coolant filters, washers, paint systems, pumps, air handling systems, etc. for sump changes and cleaning, as required to keep fluids within proper limits.

• Measure and record coolant parameters and maintain lubrication schedules to ensure parameters are met to maintain the highest coolant conditions.

• This may involve the dropping and cleaning of tanks when required.

• Liaise directly with the customer so that changes in coolant parameters are highlighted and can then be acted upon and enter results in appropriate databases. Prepare detailed shift reports.

• Assist in routine maintenance on customer’s equipment and fluid systems including product additions, filter changes, emptying gons, sump cleaning, etc. as directed.

• Assist in disposal of contaminated articles (i.e. pails, gloves, samples, etc.) in accordance with prescribed measures, including waste management and recycling initiatives.

• Assist in maintaining and calibrating all laboratory equipment; such as scales, pH meters, glassware, incubators, etc. in accordance with site control plan.

• Assist in properly maintaining tools and utility equipment such as pumps, sump suckers, coolant dispensers, etc. in a safe and efficient manner.

• Where appropriate: Cut‑up, mount and prepare parts for metallurgical testing. Surface etching of parts for analysis.

• Measurement and metallurgical determinations consisting of hardness and microstructure analysis.

• Supports site staff general organization initiatives (inventory, storage rooms, labeling, etc.)

• May work in manufacturing environment with union associates. Interact with customer’s production and technical personnel and other suppliers.

• May be required to operate hand tools, shop tools and equipment.

• May be required to operate industrial equipment, such as: fork trucks, sump suckers, power washers, tuggers, etc.

• May require working flexible hours. Carries out other duties as directed.

• May have tasks specifically related to quality control, metalogical heat treat and the steel industry.

• Provide other specifically agreed Fluidcare services as and when required by the Site Manager and/or Lead Technician – this may include operating a fork truck, recycling equipment, etc.

• Must be able to safely work in a variety of potentially hazardous situations while adhering to Quaker Houghton’s Life Saving Rules.
