Job summary

Quaker Houghton in Kings Mountain, NC is seeking a first-level Fluidcare technician to support our manufacturing customers on site. You will assist with chemical addition, coolant management, and data recording under supervision to maintain optimal fluid conditions.

This role emphasizes strong attention to safety, basic math, and proficiency with MS Excel/Word for reporting. Candidates should be comfortable lifting up to 50 pounds, and able to work days shift.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Participate in addition of chemicals including coolants, greases, oils, lubricants, cleaners, and biocides as directed by site staff.
  • Perform bio-stick dip tests of all machine sumps and central systems.
  • Assist in maintenance of coolant filters, washers, paint systems, pumps, air-handling systems, etc.
  • Measure and record coolant parameters and maintain lubrication schedules to ensure parameters are met.
  • Assist in disposing of contaminated articles in accordance with prescribed measures, including waste management and recycling initiatives.
  • Assist in maintaining and calibrating laboratory equipment such as scales, pH meters, glassware, incubators, etc.
  • Assist in maintaining tools and utility equipment such as pumps, sump suckers, coolant dispensers, etc.
  • Perform tasks such as cut-up, mounting, and preparing parts for metallurgical testing, surface etching for analysis, and performing hardness and microstructure analysis.
  • Support site staff in general organization initiatives (inventory, storage rooms, labeling, etc.).
  • Interact with customer’s production and technical personnel and other suppliers.
  • Carry out other duties as directed.
  • Provide other specifically agreed Fluidcare services as required by the Site Manager and/or Lead Technician (e.g., forklift operation).

Job description

Job Overview

Perform first level of on‑site technical, data recording and assessment within the manufacturing environment of Quaker Houghton customers. Follow standard procedures and receive supervision or management as necessary to provide a high standard of Fluidcare support.

First shift: 6 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. (Mon‑Fri).

Responsibilities
  • Participate in addition of chemicals including coolants, greases, oils, lubricants, cleaners, and biocides as directed by site staff.
  • Perform bio‑stick dip tests of all machine sumps and central systems.
  • Assist in maintenance of coolant filters, washers, paint systems, pumps, air‑handling systems, etc. for sump changes and cleaning, as required to keep fluids within proper limits.
  • Measure and record coolant parameters and maintain lubrication schedules to ensure parameters are met and maintain the highest coolant conditions.
  • Assist in disposing of contaminated articles (pails, gloves, samples, etc.) in accordance with prescribed measures, including waste management and recycling initiatives.
  • Assist in maintaining and calibrating laboratory equipment such as scales, pH meters, glassware, incubators, etc. in accordance with the site control plan.
  • Assist in maintaining tools and utility equipment such as pumps, sump suckers, coolant dispensers, etc. in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Perform tasks such as cut‑up, mounting, and preparing parts for metallurgical testing, surface etching for analysis, and performing hardness and microstructure analysis.
  • Support site staff in general organization initiatives (inventory, storage rooms, labeling, etc.).
  • Interact with customer’s production and technical personnel and other suppliers.
  • Carry out other duties as directed.
  • Provide other specifically agreed Fluidcare services as required by the Site Manager and/or Lead Technician (e.g., operating a forklift, recycling equipment).
Work Environment
  • Work in a manufacturing environment; may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • May be occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock and trip and slip hazards.
  • Noise level in the manufacturing environment is loud.
  • Maintain a safety mindset and the highest EHS standards while at customer’s site.
Experience & Skills
  • Minimal to no experience in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
