Job summary

Rocket Lab is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer II / Senior I Manufacturing Engineer – Fluid Systems in Long Beach, CA. You will develop and improve propulsion component manufacturing, with deep weld fabrication, tube assembly, and NDE/NDT expertise, collaborating closely with engineering, quality, and production teams.

You’ll drive continuous improvement, lead capital upgrades, and help implement processes across planning, production, and ERP systems, while working in a fast-paced aerospace

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, aerospace engineering, or related field
• 2+ years developing and introducing fabrication methods such as OTW, TIG, proof testing and cleaning
• Experience setting up and/or operating a tube shop or build area

Responsibilities

• Develop, perform, and qualify precision welding and fabrication of tubing components according to aerospace specs
• Utilize TIG, MIG, OTW and other welding methods to ensure structural integrity
• Conduct thorough inspections of welded components using NDE/NDT techniques
• Collaborate with engineering teams to interpret and implement design specifications
• Lead problem containment and root cause investigations when required
• Resolve manufacturing discrepancies and non-conformances promptly
• Collaborate with quality to drive quality improvements
• Coordinate between production, quality, supply chain and design for complex problems
• Plan and execute capital equipment and layout upgrades with business-case prep
• Lead continuous improvement using Lean/Six Sigma tools
• Develop and maintain new processes for planning, production, quality, ERP and data analysis
• Lead and support deployment of new processes where none exist
