Job Description

Summary – Fluid Systems Site Manager

Overall responsible for the area as assigned (Media – Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Emulsion systems, etc.). Planning of work, studying the resources, and execution of the installation and commissioning of equipment of plant subsections as per project schedule and within the scope of supplies and services provided by SMS Group. Ensuring safe working conditions.

What you'll do

  • Travel extensively to project sites
  • Study project drawings and prepare for site activities in advance
  • Create daily/weekly installation plans aligned with project schedules
  • Ensure work front availability for SVs, installation teams, customers, etc.
  • Check foundations, establish bench marks and center lines, verify equipment availability
  • Plan consistently and record measurements diligently
  • Maintain measurement records during installation
  • Prepare installation completion documentation
  • Know the appropriate equipment for each project after site study
  • Coordinate commissioning activities with electrical and automation teams
  • Oversee project completion, ensuring deadlines are met
  • Be a problem solver, capable of making decisions under pressure
  • Assist GSM/SM with site-related order execution
  • Enforce safety protocols in compliance with state, federal, and local requirements
  • Use basic computer applications for drawings and reports
  • Interpret installation and commissioning schedules to plan work
  • Provide progress reports and identify issues
  • Attend client and contractor meetings to resolve issues
  • Possess knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, emulsion systems, and piping
  • Read P&ID drawings of media systems proficiently
  • Coordinate and initiate corrective actions as needed

What you’ll need

  • High school diploma and/or 5-7 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in installation and commissioning of metallurgical plants
  • Effective communication skills
  • Strong organizational and leadership abilities
  • Ability to make logical decisions under pressure
  • Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic systems
  • Proficiency with computer applications (Excel, Word, Project)
  • Ability to work under high stress and weather conditions
  • Capability to prioritize and multitask with minimal supervision
