Position Overview
Fluid Plant Equipment Operator – $25.73 per hour. Full‑time, evening/weekend/holidays (second/third shifts) at an airport de‑icing service.
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain aircraft de‑icing trucks, glycol recovery vehicles, and processing/distillation equipment.
- Follow SOPs, safety manuals, and management direction to perform tasks according to specifications and regulations.
- Ensure compliance with government legislation related to labor, health and safety, regulations and policies.
- Inspect equipment daily using checklists; perform light maintenance and report repairs.
- Maintain accurate paperwork, logging books, and other required documentation.
- Use personal protective equipment and keep workplace clean, safe, hazard‑free.
- Work cooperatively with team members and external stakeholders (airport authorities, security, public).
- Make suggestions to management for efficiency improvements.
- Perform ad‑hoc assignments and general labor duties as directed.
Qualifications
- Minimum 18 years old.
- Available to work holidays, weekends, 2nd shift (afternoons) and 3rd shift (overnights).
- Able to obtain an Airport Badge and complete classroom/on‑job training.
- Intermediate computer skills; working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Proficient in reading, writing, speaking and communicating effectively in English.
- Ability to interpret documents – safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals.
- Basic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, rates, ratios, percents.
- Ability to write simple correspondence and present information in one‑on‑one and small group settings.
- Capable of safely operating a motorized vehicle in inclement weather.
- Basic knowledge of aircraft operations.
- General mechanical competence and hand‑tool proficiency.
- Clean driving record meeting company insurance standards.
- Positive, calm, good‑natured attitude; able to perform under pressure with fixed time constraints.
- Valid driver’s license required.
Work Environment
Warehouse and outdoor settings with prolonged standing, noise, varying temperatures, odors, fumes, and heavy equipment. Proximity to moving vehicles and machinery.
Physical Demands
Sitting, standing, bending, kneeling, climbing, lifting up to 50 lbs, reaching with hands and arms, and occasional work at heights up to 40+ feet.
