Qualifications

• NYSDOH Licensed as a Certified Clinical Laboratory Technologist.
• Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology or Biology, Chemistry or physical sciences from an accredited college or university.
• One year experience in a clinical laboratory (internship acceptable).
• Effective Interpersonal Communication skills required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with environmental, JCAHO, NYS DOH, and CAP regulations.
• Retrieve clinical information using laboratory systems.
• Process patient specimens for molecular tests per SOP.
• Perform nucleic acid purification/extraction and quantify results.
• Conduct PCR, electrophoresis and NGS per SOP.
• Participate in quality control procedures for reagents and machines.
• Ensure daily quality of results and communicate issues to leadership.
• Maintain and troubleshoot molecular pathology equipment as assigned.
• Handle chemical, biohazard and radioactive materials safely.
• Perform tests with diagnostic purposes.
