Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s degree in a biological science field and MLS certification within 18 months of hire or transfer.
• Ensures accurate laboratory testing and analysis per accreditation guidelines and quality control standards.
• Experience with flow cytometry is preferred but not required (training provided).
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow complex procedures.

Responsibilities

• Determines normal and abnormal components of body fluids by chemical analyses of blood, urine, spinal fluids and gastric juices.
• Analyzes blood cells by counting and identifying cells using microscopy techniques.
• Prepares blood, plasma, and platelets for transfusions by conducting blood group, type, and compatibility tests.
• Processes, reads, and reports cultures and antibiotic sensitivities from various sources.
• Maintains operation of analyzers and related equipment by calibration and preventive maintenance.
• Maintains laboratory supplies inventory and expedites orders as needed.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, medical laboratory science, chemistry, or related biological science field
