Job summary

NeoGenomics is seeking an entry-level Laboratory Technician I for the Flow Cytometry department in Aliso Viejo, CA. Under supervision, you will assist with processing specimens for clinical testing and provide general lab support following SOPs. This role is designed for growth in a fast-paced environment.

The position emphasizes learning within a training environment, with responsibilities spanning specimen handling, data preparation, equipment maintenance and QA logging.

Qualifications

• BS or BA in life or physical science (preferred) or AA/AS with MLT license.
• 1+ year experience as Laboratory Technician or Laboratory Assistant.
• Basic understanding of lab techniques and MS Office.
• Effective communication and strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a biohazard environment.

Responsibilities

• Receives, organizes and processes clinical specimens accurately.
• Prepares data, printouts and documents for licensed technologist review.
• Prepares testing equipment and assists with preventative maintenance.
• Reports problems to Supervisor or Lead Technologist for resolution.
• Operates automated equipment per SOP.
• Prepares reagents and controls, keeps records of reagents.
• Responds to pathologists, managers and technologists' requests.
• Reads and adheres to all SOPs and department rules.
• Logs Quality Control and Quality Assurance results.
• Assists in validation documentation for new tests as required.
• Maintains laboratory cleanliness and equipment maintenance.
• Attends trainings and department meetings.
