Job summary

D-Wave, launching a state-of-the-art facility in Boca Raton, Florida, seeks a Team Lead, USHQ Lab Operations to help establish and lead the Florida Lab Operations team. You will guide cryogenic test cycles and ensure readiness of dilution refrigerators, payloads, and cooldown workflows while supporting research priorities.

The role combines hands-on leadership with strategic development, training at headquarters in Burnaby, BC, and eventual responsibility for a growing lab in Florida.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, applied sciences, physics, or equivalent.
• 6+ years in lab operations or cryogenic environments.
• Experience leading or coordinating a technical team.
• Hands-on with cryogenic systems, instrumentation, or lab infrastructure.
• Strong planning, prioritization, troubleshooting, and cross-functional coordination.
• Ability to balance hands-on work with leadership responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the LabOps team in Florida by coordinating daily priorities, workload, assignments, and operational coverage.
• Serve as the first point of contact for technical guidance, troubleshooting, and procedural questions.
• Help launch Florida lab operations by establishing procedures, training, documentation, readiness checks, and escalation practices.
• Plan and oversee cryostat cooldowns, warmups, and payload operations, including system readiness, maintenance status, instrumentation, and scheduling.
• Enforce approved safety procedures, checklists, and operational standards.
• Coordinate priorities and dependencies with engineering, packaging, infrastructure, controls, and other partner teams.
• Maintain accurate configuration, cycle, and operational records.
• Track operational performance and drive improvements in reliability, schedule adherence, and throughput.
