Job summary

Colonial Williamsburg Foundation in Williamsburg, VA is seeking a Floral Operations Assistant to support the Floral Designer with conditioning, transport, installation, maintenance, removal, disposal, storage, and inventory of all floral materials for day-to-day, annual, and seasonal events across the Foundation.

The role is non-exempt, typically Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., with possible overtime during peak periods.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.
Must possess a valid Commonwealth of Virginia driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record.
Must be at least 21 years of age with no more than 1 moving violation within 12 months and no serious violations.
3–6 months experience with floral, nursery, or landscaping operations preferred.
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and work in various environments.

Responsibilities

Assist designers with preparation and conditioning of floral materials; prepare basic floral arrangements as directed.
Prepare completed arrangements for delivery; deliver, install, and maintain arrangements on-site.
Monitor installations and advise staff of maintenance needs or reinstallation.
Transport, protect, and return items borrowed for events and seasonal displays.
Assist with seasonal installations with carpenters, electricians, and temporary staff.
Maintain floral studio inventory, including props, flowers, and containers; track locations.
Keep floral studio and cooler clean and organized.
Perform routine maintenance checks of the delivery van.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
