Job summary

Bedford Village Flower Shoppe in Bedford, NY seeks a Floral Assistant to care for flowers, prep product, and maintain shop standards. This non-design role starts in the first year, with potential to feeder into floral design after demonstrating mastery of care standards.

Part-time, Mon/Wed/Fri, 9:30am–5:30pm, with occasional wedding/event cleanup. Competitive hourly pay based on experience and growth opportunities within our creative team.

• Strong attention to detail and pride in quality.
• Comfortable working with flowers, water, and refrigeration environments daily.
• Physically able to lift buckets, stand for extended periods, and work on your feet.
• Reliable, punctual, and consistent — this role depends on routine.
• Comfortable with cleaning, organizing, and repetitive but important tasks.
• Team‑oriented with a positive, can‑do attitude.
• Floral experience is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

• Manage floral refrigerators: cleaning, organizing, and maintaining proper flower storage.
• Process incoming flowers (hydration, trimming, conditioning, rotation).
• Monitor flower freshness and remove aging or compromised product.
• Ensure all flowers are clean, conditioned, and ready for designer use daily.
• Water and care for all indoor and outdoor plants.
• Maintain a clean and organized workroom, coolers, and retail space.
• Ensure products are properly priced and labeled.
• Assist with wedding and event breakdowns and cleanup as needed.
• Support designers with prep and general shop operations.

Position Overview

The Floral Assistant is a hands‑on, detail‑oriented role focused on flower care, product readiness, and shop standards. This position works closely with our designers to ensure flowers are fresh, organized, and ready for use every day.

This is a non‑design role during the first year. However, for the right person, this position can serve as a feeder role into floral design after a minimum one‑year commitment, once strong consistency and mastery of flower care standards are demonstrated.
