Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals is seeking a dedicated Environmental Services floor care technician to maintain clean, safe patient areas on the evening shift. You will operate floor care equipment, clean carpets, and ensure proper chemical handling in accordance with established procedures.

Responsibilities include adhering to schedules, moving furnishings, reporting equipment issues, and wearing PPE. The role requires physical capability and reliability in a hospital environment.

  • Attention to detail: Assigned areas are clean and professional in appearance. Corners and edges are free of build-up
  • Time Management: Able to complete tasks in a timely manner. Can keep to a set schedule of multiple tasks.

  • Mixes and uses chemicals in a safe and controlled manner following all established rules and guidelines.
  • Moves furniture and other items before and after cleaning, stripping and waxing.
  • Reports all equipment maintenance issues in a timely manner for proper repairs.
  • Wears proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when working with chemicals and equipment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
  • Successfully pass WV DHHR Protected Services Record Check and WV CARES fingerprint-based criminal background check if assigned to Child Development Center, Chestnut Ridge Center, or Center for Hope and Healing.
CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must have the physical capability to stand, walk, reach, climb, ascend/descend stairs and ladders, for a maximum of eight (8) hours.
  • Must have the physical capability to lift and/or carry 25-50 pounds for a maximum of eight (8) hours.
  • Must have the physical capability to push and/or pull 25 pounds for a maximum of eight (8) hours and 15 – 90+ pounds for a maximum of two (2) hours.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
  • Uses proper precautions in the performance of duties in which the following exposures : vibrations’ skin and/or lung irritants such as stripper, wax, cleaning chemicals, etc.
  • Interaction with hospital staff, Patients and visitors.

ADDITIONAL JOB DESCRIPTION:
  • Works 3:00pm- 11:30pm
  • Works every other weekend and rotates holidays.
