Job description

Job Summary

Salary: $19.50 per hour. The basic job requirements, duties, and responsibilities are designed to keep building(s) neat and clean at all times. Staff will perform necessary work to maintain optimal cleanliness across all buildings and worksites serviced by FlagShip Facility Services, Inc.

Essential Functions
  • Floor work and carpet care duties including scrubbing, stripping, waxing, buffing, shampooing, extracting, and mopping.
  • Review assignment(s) with Supervisor.
  • Gather necessary equipment and products.
  • Wear safety belts while performing each assignment.
  • Inform lead person of completed assignment(s).
  • Record time worked and products used.
  • Use wet floor signs at all times, including on carpets and tile.
  • Immediately inform lead person of any problem or situation that prevents completion or causes substandard work.
  • Adhere to all company safety rules and regulations. Violations will result in disciplinary action.
  • Keep company vehicles safe, neat, and orderly.
  • Perform any other related duties directed by leadership.
  • Maintain a neat appearance; wear clean, neatly worn uniform.
  • Attend periodic training and safety meetings.
  • Follow directions and perform work per instructions.
  • Use building maps to locate work areas.
  • Be punctual.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Knowledge of basic floor care duties and responsibilities.
  • Ability to operate floor care equipment such as automatic scrubber, buffer, shampoo machine, extractor, wet vacuum, carpet pile lifter, and vacuum.
  • Knowledge of proper use and application of floor care products.
  • Good listening and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to speak English (required for some positions).
Education and Work Experience

High School Diploma or GED equivalent. 1–3 years of experience in commercial facilities and building maintenance.

Work Environment

Small‑to‑large office environment with safety glasses required during certain tasks. Fast‑paced office setting with moderate noise. Exposed to dust, odors, oil, fumes, and noise, combining normal office and shop environments.

Requirements

Must pass a criminal background check. Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.

Physical Demands

Employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle tools, reach, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must stand, walk, and sit for long periods and may lift or move a minimum of 50 pounds of equipment. Requires good vision (close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception) and the ability to adjust focus. Under the Americans with Disabilities Act, reasonable accommodations may be made.
