Job summary

Merchants Building Maintenance in Houston, TX is hiring Floor Techs for full-time shifts (1st/2nd/3rd). You will maintain floors in commercial facilities, operate floor scrubbers, extractors, and related equipment, and support cleaning operations across hospitals, malls, and offices.

Qualifications

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and frequently, stand and walk for long periods, bend and stoop as needed.
• Experience with floor maintenance tasks such as vacuuming, shampooing, bonneting and extracting carpets is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Perform floor maintenance in commercial facilities including vacuuming, shampooing, bonneting and extracting carpets.
• Operate floor cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers, burnishers, extractors and pressure washers.
• Move safely around facilities, comply with safety guidelines, and report any issues to supervision.

Job Skills / Requirements

Floor Techs are responsible for Floor Maintenance, including but not limited to; vacuuming, shampooing, bonneting and extracting carpets, stairwells, and upholstery. The assigned work area could be inside a building, hospital, warehouse, shopping mall or other facility. Exact tasks of a Waxer are not definite, consequently, must be flexible in performing assigned duties as assigned by a Supervisor as mentioned below.

Possess considerable knowledge of the operation, use, and care of Floor Scrubbers, Side by Side, Burnisher, Vacuum Chariot, Extractors and Pressure Washer.

Essential Functions:

• Sitting, walking, standing, bending (neck), bending waist), squatting, climbing, keeling, crouching, stooping, twisting (neck), twisting (waist), and talk or hear.
• Repetitive use of hands to finger, arms (left and right) for:
• Use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls
• Fine manipulation
• Pushing
• Pulling
• Reaching (above and or below shoulder level with hands and arms)
• Keyboarding with both hands
• Lifting and Carrying object(s) from floor, table, and shelves over head or distance.
• Working around equipment and machinery
• Exposure to noise
• Exposure to dust, gas, fumes, cleaning products and noise
• Working at heights
• Working with biohazards such us:
• Sewage
• Hospital waste and others.
• Must be able to lift and stack objects up to 50 pounds occasionally and frequently exert 10 to 20 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, and pull or otherwise move objects
• Indoor/ out-door work environment with exposure to weather extremes.
